AFEZ Airport Baku

TKH Airport Solutions is the main technology partner of a new airport under construction in Azerbaijan. The ICAO CAT III airport, owned by the Silk Way Group, is situated approximately 65 kilometers south of Baku in the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ).

Silk Way Group is a leading cargo airline in the Caspian and Central Asian region. The company unveiled its plans for the new cargo airport during COP29 in November 2024. Read more about this unveiling ceremony in the announcement made by Silk Way Group.

The facility will include a four-kilometer-long runway, taxiways, and stands for 12 widebody aircraft. The runway will be classified according to ICAO CAT IIIB, allowing a precision instrument approach and landing with a decision height below 15 meters and with a Runway Visual Range of less than 175 meters.

CEDD AGL technology was chosen for the project because of the installation and maintenance benefits over conventional technologies, being a basis for further operational improvements over time.

The new airport is scheduled to be opened in 2026.
